A former member of the National Youth Brass Band of Great Britain, Paul Walton graduated from the Royal Northern College of Music in 1994. He was appointed as a Junior Fellow of the College and, a year later, was awarded a Post-graduate Diploma in Conducting and Advanced Performance.
His background is largely that of the brass band movement, playing for bands such as Black Dyke, Fodens, Desford and the Fairey band.
Paul is a founder member of Tubalaté. The ensemble has been at the forefront of instrumental and repertory development for over 20 years. The group has been acclaimed as one of the leading exponents of brass chamber music.
Alongside his performance commitments Paul also works as a composer. His work “Lest We Forget” was premiered, in August 2014, in St Asaph Cathedral, by the DMC Youth Brass Band. He also has a busy conducting schedule, and has been recently involved in preparing the Poynton (Vernon Building Society) Brass Band for the Championship section Northwest Area contest and the Senior Trophy.
Additionally, Paul has, as part of a ten piece ensemble, consisting of professional northwest musicians, recently recorded a CD for Novello.
Paul is also a qualified paramedic.
